DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Janice Lee (Space Telescope Science Institute & Obse
rvatoire Côte d'Azur)\n\nThe PHANGS-HST and JWST Treasury Programs have p
roduced the most extensive inventories to date of optically visible and du
st-obscured star clusters across nearby galaxies.\nA coherent picture is e
merging of the earliest phases of star formation\, built from complementar
y studies that consistently point to short dust-clearing timescales (~3 My
r)\, in agreement with earlier optical studies. Together\, these results u
nderscore the central role of early\, pre-supernova feedback in regulating
the star formation cycle.\nDrawing on the statistical power of tens of th
ousands of clusters spanning dozens of galaxies\, I will synthesize what P
HANGS and related programs have revealed about cluster evolution\, feedbac
k\, and the use of clusters as “clocks” for timing key phases of star
formation. Looking ahead\, I will highlight work on the Habitable Worlds O
bservatory\, NASA’s next flagship astrophysics mission after Roman\, whi
ch will operate as a true “Super-Hubble\,” with UV–optical capabilit
ies to transform our understanding of star formation and fields across ast
 rophysics.\n\nhttps://indico.iparcos.ucm.es/event/55/
